Galkin Automated Products, located in West Babylon, New York, was founded in 1908 by Joseph Galkin - a talented inventor and innovator with a passion for the sewn products industry. He saw that operators and plant managers were struggling with the limitations of their equipment, forcing operators to strain themselves to force the material through the conventional sewing machines to meet production goals.
He determined that standard sewing equipment needed to be customized to meet unique production requirements, and his first patented invention - the sewing machine puller - revolutionized the way operators and fabrics interacted with sewing machines.
Nearly a century later, the synchronized puller is as relevant today as it was then, and can be found in thousands of sewing factories across the world. Galkin continued to grow and thrive, by helping apparel and textile manufacturers meet production goals with specialized labor assisting devices and machines.
In 1972, the tradition of innovation and invention reached new levels as Charlie Block purchased Galkin Automated Products.
Charlie had served as Chief Design Engineer with other companies in the past inventing and developing industrial production equipment, as well as running a successful equipment manufacturing business of his own. Charlie was one of the original great inventors...a man who could look at a process, immediately understand and identify the problem, and formulate a unique and creative machine to overcome the hurdles.
A few years later, Charlie was joined by his son, Paul. Together, the two partners continued in the tradition of innovation and invention, providing unique, high quality cutting edge workstations to the sewn products industry. In a few short years, the determined pair was able to transform and expand the company to its modern day form with full service design, engineering, manufacturing, sales, and support departments...and automated products in dozens of manufacturing industries.
As the company grew year after year, a faithful following of satisfied customers grew in response to Galkin's unique reaction to customer service issues. Customers began to feel more like "partners", as Galkin worked tirelessly to help each customer reach their production goals and deal immediately with issues as they arose.
